Safer, more efficient, more effective care

No more paper prescriptions, no more signing printed scripts, no more faxing med charts.

The P6Med Management compliant eNRMC system enables Prescribers to prescribe directly from the program and the medication chart within the system is the Pharmacy’s compliant prescription.

The Alerts, Medication Chart and other automated features are auto-created from this one action. Pharmacists can instantly access real time prescription details to dispense from, nursing/care staff have instant details re what to administer and Prescribers can log in remotely to update, add or cease medications.

The MIMs set of medicine information used by P6Med enables auto selection of PBS/RPBS compliant meds, Streamlined Authority codes and enables State based Authority details to be entered, along with nurse initiated and non PBS or RPBS orders. The MIMS medicine monograph also ensures dose details, pack details, adverse drug interactions and more are available for cross checking.

P6Med is a complete medication management system that includes medication charts, prescriptions and numerous alerts, assisting staff to achieve an error free medication administration process.

Easy step by step process

STEP 1. A prescriber can login and prescribe a medication from their practice in emergencies, from within the organisation during a visit or as a nurse, via their Nurse initiated access.  Our fully integrated MIMs, with professionally confirmed ‘default dose with prescriber confirmation’ capability, ensures medications are safely prescribed. Authorised Users can also add non-prescription orders as allowed.

The 9R’s ordering process is also supported by resident/client photo ID, medical diagnoses alerts, highlighted allergy and sensitivity details, instant access to clinical details such as vaccinations, swallowing capability, current infections, weights and vital signs, along with other key nursing/important facts.  This ensures the resident/client is receiving the right medication, in the right dose, using the right route, at the right time.

STEP 2. Auto alerts in real time are generated, ensuring the pharmacist knows any changes, meds to dispense or cease. The pharmacist can use the auto-generated medication chart from the system as their prescription. No printing/signing required.

All nursing/care staff know exactly when the medicine is due, administration instructions are presented on the screen and access to the med admin screen is via a single button click at the time of administration. The organisation configures when they wish meds to display for administration – at a set time prior the required admin.

The information is presented in an easy to read format, and any ‘missed’ meds continue to appear for staff to action until they action the medication admin activity ie. indicate the medicine is to be administered later for a specified reason, is not to be administered or has been administered.

Co-sign, co-check, medicine images, clear orders, details re when the medicine was last administered – all assist in an as error free process.

STEP3. Auto-population of prescription details into the medication administration feature and onto charts ensures real time, safe instructions, from P6Med entered .prescriptions.

– Meds as dispensed auto-appear in the system and on the charts

– Medication charts show all detail and colour is used to display medication administration actions for quick viewing of administration types ie. refused, counter-checked, administered, to be administered later as awaiting pharmacy delivery and more

– Prescriptions Summary and Reports identify Prescribed or Administered Meds

– Reports filtering – identifies ordered or administered e.g. Antibiotics, Psychotropics

– Numerous alerts e.g. meds due, PRN’s administered, Meds due for expiry, new Meds, ensures everyone who needs to know knows

– Progress Notes are auto-updated with administration details as determined by meds administration staff and details are auto-entered into PNs when prescribed or changed

Resident/client information appears on the chart directly from completed nursing assessments, weights and vital signs, allergies, infections

– Meds Administration staff are required to counter-check admin as per configured instructions, requiring two staff to check administration

– Auto-calculated Tablet counts are present for carers to review prior saving, and all administration confirmations allow staff to re-check admin details prior saving

– Administration Alerts are then auto-set following save to enable a ‘medication round’ or admin process to continue, sorted by admin time or person or room/area

Displays:

  • Last time the medication was administered
  • Med Due details
  • Dose, frequency, route, duration
  • Administration auto options – including co-sign, mandatory Comments
  • Medication Image
  • Allergies, special instructions, resident and medicine images
